WHAT'S THE BEST MARKETING STRATEGY?
I see this question a lot, and I want to answer it for you once and for all.
And before I give my answer, I know what you’re going to say.
Yes, you’ve probably seen this answer everywhere, and I know a definitive answer is what you’re looking for. However, it’s a matter of opinion. The reason I say this is because it does actually depend on the intent behind your marketing.
Why?
Well, not all audiences hang around in the same places; granted, Google will always have the most traffic, so targeting this platform will heavily increase the chance of your brand awareness increasing as well as your sales.
The thing is, if your audience hangs around on sites like YouTube and Facebook more, it’s paramount that you target these areas. So for that reason, paid advertising would be more beneficial to you. I do agree that content marketing is probably the most universal of all, so you could argue that’s the best form of marketing.
On the other hand, we mustn’t forget email marketing. The reason I warm to this strategy of marketing is because the audience’s attention is completely different. Think of it like this: If you’re running ads on Facebook or Instagram, you’re directly competing with posts that people opt-in to see, making it harder for you to draw people into your ad.
Whereas with email marketing, the game changes completely. Most people are on their emails to work, meaning that it’s much easier to grab someone’s attention through email than it is on someone’s social feed.
Obviously, the way you market via email is substantially different from that on social media channels. You need to come across as if you’re one of their friends; this is going to massively skyrocket your open rate. From there, it’s all down to you to provide good enough copy to take action at the end of the email.
A few points to add: 1) You need to provide value first. 2) Bait them in with a personal subject line. 3) Use stories to sell and logic to close.
This is the same for all marketing methods; however, it’s even more important through email marketing.
To conclude, I believe all forms of marketing can be extremely effective, depending on a number of factors. Just make sure you become the best at that specific area, and there’s no chance you won’t be successful.
